Developer Atlantis Studio has released a new gameplay trailer for Beyond the Dark – Nightwatch, confirming that the title will launch on Switch 2 on 22nd October 2026.

We’ve already spoken with creative director Nico Augusto, and we’re pretty chuffed with what we’ve seen so far, but this new trailer really demonstrates Beyond the Dark’s unique gameplay mechanics quite well.

To put it bluntly, it looks like a Wii U game.

So essentially, player one has to navigate a haunted house via docked mode, while player two provides support and surveillance in handheld mode. The idea is that you can’t survive on your own; you have to work together and communicate to ensure success. You can just imagine something like this launching a decade ago on Wii U, utilising the gamepad to great effect. Yet here it is in 2026 for the Switch 2.

We do still have some lingering concerns. The visuals look a little basic in the quick shots of gameplay, and we do wonder just how scary it will be with that PEGI 12 rating attached to it. But honestly, it looks pretty cool so far, and we’re keen to give it a shot.
