Breaking news this evening, as TheInsneider reports that David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, pictured above) has been tapped to direct the psychological horror film Mommy’s Home for Lionsgate!
Penned by James Morosini, the writer was originally supposed to direct the script. Now, it seems Lionsgate has decided to go with Sandberg behind the camera instead.
We don’t have an official logline at this time, but the synopsis on the film’s IMDB page reads: “When a 24-year-old woman is unfrozen decades later, her son, now a father himself, faces a terrifyingly unhinged family life.”
What a premise, am I right?
Mommy’s Home sounds like all sorts of fucked up. The synopsis oozes extreme horror camp that could make movies such as Beau’s Afraid and the mommy issues at the center of that film look like child’s play.
Horror fan’s will be more than familiar with. He’s been a hot name since his feature debut, Lights Out, based on his YouTube horror short. Following that film’s success, the filmmaker went on to tackle Annabelle: Creation, Shazam!, and the Until Dawn movie adaptation.
Stay tuned to Dread as we learn more details. And get ready for a film that sounds like it could make for a perfect Mother’s Day movie with mom (joking, obviously. Well, kind of).
