With as many delays as trailers, Grand Theft Auto 6‘s upcoming release date in November hasn’t quite felt solid, but the game passing a recent milestone has given fans a lot of hope. It’s one of the most anticipated games of all time, and while PC players will have to wait longer, it would appear GTA 6 is approaching its final stretch to release.

On May 3, Grand Theft Auto 6 was 200 days away from launch on November 19. “After multiple delays, this is the closest we’ve ever been to release,” wrote the GTA 6 Countdown account. The milestone has fans expecting a third trailer (possibly GTA 6‘s long-awaited gameplay reveal), as well as pre-orders going live. Both would be major steps in GTA 6 closing in on launch, likely sparking an uptick in marketing, not to mention Rockstar Games actively selling the title.

Before we see Rockstar commit as such, though, getting through May without another delay could be a similar milestone. The previous two delays have come roughly six months before the stated release date or rough release window. Being fewer than 200 days away is still significant, and two delays are exactly what happened with Red Dead Redemption 2, but further development complications are always on the table.

While many are excited that we’ve seemingly entered the final stretch before GTA 6, others aren’t as excited. Rockstar’s silence and the lack of a third trailer are points of concern for more pessimistic fans predicting yet another delay. The big, GTA 6-related event to keep an eye on is Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive’s upcoming earnings call. The quarterly financial report on May 21 will likely be our next update on the game’s development, provided Rockstar doesn’t make an announcement first.

GTA 6‘s development has been a wild ride for series fans. Protracted development cycles with minimal official information aren’t exactly uncommon – just look at Elden Ring or Hollow Knight: Silksong. Things feel a bit different with GTA 6 and its two high-profile delays, though. The game’s first trailer set the record for most YouTube views in 24 hours; it’s impossible to understate how anticipated of a game it is.

Fans have been taking every bit of information on GTA 6 in for years, so it’s no surprise to see the 200-day milestone met with excitement. The Take-Two earnings call will likely be a more concrete goalpost to keep an eye on, but the fact that we’re getting this close to release without another delay is being taken as a good sign. We’re nealry six months away from Grand Theft Auto 6 finally coming out, and fans are taking all the good news they can get.
