Warren Worthington III as Angel is almost unquestionably the least popular of the original 5 X-Men, and thus Angel has only appeared a couple times in Hasbro’s Marvel Legends form over nearly two decades. The fan-favorite Horseman of Apocalypse, Archangel, is another matter—and now his second figure in just two years is ready to fly in: the X-Men 97 Legends Archangel figure is now up for order! Will this techno-organic-winged terror be joining your collection?
Almost from the moment he debuted in 1988, Archangel has been a more popular and compelling iteration of Warren Worthington III to a large percentage of X-Men fans.
Archangel was even represented in the first series of Toybiz X-Men 5” figures back in 1991, whereas Angel proper wouldn’t appear in plastic for several more years. Toybiz would even release an alternate universe “The Fallen” Archangel from the Mutant X world!

In keeping this Warren faithful to the animated series, he’s also got a less elaborate (but no less cool-looking) set of wings than the 2025 X-Force version (above).
To make up for the less fancy wings, there’s a “retracted” set of wings that can be swapped in for the full wings. This option will be a space-sizer on shelves for collectors running out of space, and I think some fans may cruelly use this option, so it’s not a wasted accessory.
Along with a pair of swap-out open hands and an alternate head, the last accessory is a big blaster rifle. I’m not really sure what this is about, as I have no memory of Archangel ever wielding this gun in the series. It looks rather neat, but just isn’t a display option for the character that I’ll ever use.
Hasbro has set the MSRP on this deluxe Archangel at $39.99, which I think will come as a relief to many. I have a hard time myself getting past the mental barrier of 40 dollar plus ML figures myself. Note that this is a few bucks cheaper than last year’s X-Force Archangel, but this release also includes less extras.
Marvel Legends X-Men 97 Archangel is now up for order and scheduled to ship in June 2026.
This is Hasbro’s 5th 6” Archangel release. Is the 5th time the charm, Marvel collectors? Will you add this Horseman of Death to -your- X-Men 97 shelf?
