Fans of God of War will be getting an extra dose of Kratos and his world this November. Not only is the much-anticipated game God of War Ragnarok launching November 9th, but Dark Horse Books and Santa Monica Studio will be bringing you a behind the scenes look of the game’s development with The Art of God of War Ragnarok from November 29th.

The Art of God of War Ragnarok will be available from November 29 in bookstores and November 30 from local comic shops.

There will be two versions – a standard full color hardcover book and a deluxe edition, retailing for $49.99 and $129.99 respectively.

True to the moniker, the deluxe edition promises some hefty extras: faux leather clamshell case and cover plus two “gallery-quality” lithographs in a displayable portfolio. Truly a fan piece.

Deluxe Edition

The Art of God of War Ragnarök hardcover, according to Dark Horse,

“…collects concept art and creative commentary chronicling the development of the next entry in the God of War saga.”

The PR adds,

“This painstakingly-assembled tome details a story of parenthood, destiny, and adventure, told in the voices of the team that brought it to life.

It also promises,

“stunning, never-before-seen concept art of the world, characters, creatures, and artifacts”.

This is not the first time Dark Horse has produced a documentary art books and extras for the series. In 2018, they released The Art of God of War, and God of War: Lore and Legends followed in 2020. Dark Horse Comics has also produced comics to serve as bridging material between the original God of War trilogy (which ended in 2010) and the new series that debuted in 2018. The comics were written by Chris Roberson with art by Tony Parker and are available in two collected volumes.
