Maika Monroe Holds the Knife This Time
Monroe plays Winifred Notty, a governess who arrives at a remote gothic manor where the household starts to suspect she is not who she seems. Thomasin McKenzie, Jason Isaacs, Ruth Wilson, Amy De Bruhn and Jacobi Jupe fill out the house. Zachary Wigon directs, from Virginia Feito’s adaptation of her own novel.

Casting Monroe as the one doing the harm is the sharpest choice here. She built her name being pursued, from It Follows through Watcher, and she is back as Jay in the sequel that wrapped in September. This is the other chair.
It Already Played Fantastic Fest
The film screened at Fantastic Fest in September, and iHorror’s review came down on Monroe’s side. We also looked at why the manor is decorated the way it is.
Bleecker Street opens the film in US theaters on November 13. The MPA rated it R for strong bloody violence and brief sexual material.
