A sequel to Chinese Soulslike RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is in the works at new studio Indolphinity, founded by Wuchang director Xia Siyuan after he was reportedly fired from the original, seemingly defunct team at series creator Leenzee Games.
Wuchang publisher 505 Games, which will return to publish Wuchang 2 (or whatever it ends up being called), announced the news in a joint press release with Indolphinity, officially dubbed Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology Co.
That press release reiterates, in case you missed it, that Digital Bros, the parent to 505 Games, acquired the IP rights to Wuchang in April 2026. This would’ve been on the heels of reports that the Leenzee Games Wuchang team had been dissolved after refusing a pivot to support work, not long after Siyuan’s alleged firing earlier in the year.

This whole mess followed a significant retcon to Wuchang, evidently prompted by widespread backlash from Chinese fans angry over the game’s portrayal of some historically significant people and characters, which also dramatically lowered the game’s Steam review score.
“Under the agreement, Indolphinity will lead the creative development of the sequel, while 505 Games will fund and publish the game globally,” that press release reads. Additionally, a new Digital Bros subsidiary will be established in Chengdu, China to “further support development and publishing activities.”
In a Twitter statement, 505 Games confirms “the Wuchang sequel has officially entered its preparation phase,” indicating it won’t actually be released for several years. With Indolphinity also likely wrestling with the groundwork of forming a new studio – which, if we’re lucky, will include rehiring a lot of the original staff from Leenzee – I’d say even a 2029 release date is generous. But a real future for Wuchang is exciting news nevertheless.
“Wuchang: Fallen Feathers attracted more than 131,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch and reached 5 million players worldwide across PC and console platforms, establishing itself as one of the most successful Action RPG Soulslike titles in its category,” 505 Games says.
Digital Bros co-founder Raffi Galante seems to quietly hit on Wuchang’s troubled launch in a comment: “From the outset, our priority has been to safeguard and amplify the original creative vision, while equipping the development team with the resources and publishing expertise needed to succeed worldwide. We are committed to preserving the cultural authenticity of the IP, keeping its creative heart in China while bringing the world of WUCHANG to players across the globe.”
We’ve also heard directly from Siyuan, who sounds keen to get back in the saddle.
“We listen closely to the real voices of players and the community, and we remain firmly devoted to our original creative aspirations and cultural foundations, striving to answer everyone’s long-standing expectations with more polished quality and a more complete experience,” Siyuan says. “Wuchang’s story is far from over. Together, Indolphinity and 505 Games set out on a new journey, unfolding an entirely new chapter of Wuchang’s story that is deeply rooted in the Eastern soil.”
Wuchang reviewed lower than the likes of Lies of P or The First Berserker: Khazan, but it had its devotees and made a name for itself with stunning visual direction, smart iterations on Soulslike-standard systems, a compelling setting, and generally sharp, always flashy combat. I would call it an annoying game that I enjoyed and finished despite some frustrations with encounter design and game balance. Our Wuchang: Fallen Feathers review awarded it 3.5 stars.
