PERTH, Australia – 24 July 2026 – LatConnect 60 (“LC60”), an Australian satellite Earth observation and AI company, today unveiled a proprietary intelligence-fusion capability that leverages the latest advancements in AI, and announced that it is now open for demonstrations and workshops with defence and intelligence stakeholders across the Indo-Pacific.
The capability has emerged directly from LC60’s growing regional engagement regarding future access to data from its SWIRSAT short-wave infrared (SWIR) constellation. SWIRSAT is supported by the Australian Space Agency and the Western Australian Government, with the first two SWIRSAT missions launching to orbit in Q1 2027 and a near term constellation expansion plan to 18-satellites.
Across technical and commercial discussions with defence ministries, armed forces and intelligence organisations, initial interest in SWIR increasingly progressed into discussions around priority use cases, areas of interest, tasking, data sovereignty and integration with existing operational systems. In response to that market feedback, LC60 developed its AI capabilities to extend its proprietary sensing advantage into a broader decision-intelligence offering.
From SWIR Detection to Corroborated Intelligence
LC60’s AI capability brings SWIR and other imagery together with synthetic aperture radar, radio-frequency and signals intelligence, cooperative tracking feeds, ground sensors, open-source information and human intelligence. It organises observations by location and time, shows where independent sources support or challenge one another, and retains the evidence behind each assessment.
The capability is designed to operate as a decision-support layer within the platforms and workflows defence organisations already use.
In a maritime surveillance scenario, an unusual RF signal could draw attention to an area, radar could establish a vessel’s position and movement, and tracking data could reveal an inconsistency in its declared activity. SWIR imagery could then provide additional material or activity-related information where conventional optical imagery is limited by conditions such as haze, smoke or certain forms of camouflage. The combined evidence would then be presented for analyst review.
Demonstrations and Evaluation Pathway
The demonstrations and workshops will allow participating stakeholders to examine how the capability correlates authorised data across maritime, land, air and joint intelligence scenarios. Evaluations will use available data sources and representative mission requirements, with LC60’s proprietary SWIRSAT data planned for incorporation following commissioning of the first satellites, currently targeted for end of Q1 2027.
Executive Commentary
“The development of this proprietary AI capability has been driven by our client engagements around SWIRSAT. Their interest validated the need for a differentiated SWIR sensing layer, while their operational questions revealed a larger opportunity: helping customers connect that data with the intelligence they already hold. This extends LC60 from proprietary sensing into integrated decision intelligence.”
Venkat Pillay, CEO & Founder, LatConnect 60
“Our Indo-Pacific engagements have progressed from interest in future SWIR data to detailed discussions on use cases, tasking, data sovereignty and integration. Stakeholders want faster, confidence-based corroboration without replacing existing systems. We are now conducting demonstrations and workshops to evaluate the capability against their priority scenarios and approved datasets.”
