It looks as though Nintendo is planning to debut an OLED Nintendo Switch 2 console sooner than expected as ZDNET Korea is reporting that Samsung is gearing up to provide OLED displays for the device. The source says that while it’s not been fully agreed upon yet, product development of the new Nintendo Switch 2 OLED unit could begin as early as at the end of the year. However, this is all dependant on how much of a price increase this would mean as Nintendo is aiming to lower their manufacturing costs in the midst of the component war. Here’s what was said via machine translation:

“If the release of the Switch 2 OLED model is decided, there is a possibility that product development will begin at the end of this year. If development starts at the end of this year, mass production can be expected as early as the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028.”
