EXCLUSIVE: Liongate’s Michael is crossing $300M today around the globe which will unseat Warner Bros’ 8x Oscar nominated Elvis ($288.6M) as the No. 2 musical biopic ever, just behind Bohemian Rhapsody ($911M), which was also produced by Michael producer Graham King.

After opening to $218.8M around the globe off of Universal’s foreign release of the pic, the Antoine Fuqua directed movie went on to collect another $47.5M between Monday and Thursday abroad in 82 territories, taking its international running cume to $169.3M.

Michael‘s domestic week ended at $129.8M, and added all up, global stands at $299M as of yesterday. It’s expected that Michael will have a second weekend of $45M, -54%, with a running domestic take of $174.8M by EOD Sunday.

Abroad, the Jaafar Jackson, Nia Long, Colman Domingo and Miles Teller starring movie saw a $12.8M Thursday, -8% from last week’s opening Thursday. This is a particularly exceptional hold as the film competes with sunny weather across Europe, and the opening of Devil Wears Prada 2.

Territory updates:

–The UK & Ireland has reached $21.8M cume to-date.

–France grossed an excellent $1.3M on Thursday, reclaiming the No.1 spot in admissions for the day, above the second day of Devil Wears Prada 2. It has reached $14.2M cume to-date.

–Mexico has now reached $12.9M.

–Italy had an exceptional Thursday, grossing $900K, rising +7% from last week and raising its cume to $11.1M cume to-date.

The Middle East region grossed $1M on Thursday with incredible uplift from last week’s opening (+36%). The running total has now reached $8M. That’s a great sign as the Iran war has been a distraction for many.

–China grossed $500K on Thursday to reach $6.6M cume to-date.
