Despite being among the most popular and recognizable X-Men villains, we hadn’t seen a single-packed non-movie Marvel Legends Juggernaut figure since the Toybiz days of old nearly two decades ago. But as part of their “Marvel vs Capcom” themed GamerVerse initiative this year, that’s just what Hasbro is giving us: the deluxe oversized Marvel Legends Juggernaut figure is now smashing in for pre-orders!
As a kiddo, Juggernaut never really appealed to me. He just seemed like the generic “big dumb thug” type of villain that wasn’t particularly compelling or unique.
But when I was a teenager, I played a Capcom Marvel fighting game for the first time in an arcade and my view changed forever. Juggernaut wasn’t just “big” in those games—he was a full-on mammoth titan, filling the screen and absolutely dwarfing characters like Hulk and Colossus! This monstrous powerhouse from the Capcom fighting games became how I visualize Juggs in my head forevermore.
Ridiculously oversized “Marvel vs Capcom” style Juggernaut has been getting some love over the last couple years, including a MONDO vinyl figure that I bought and even a resin PCS statue (that I bought, though it’s been delayed quite a while)—and now we’re getting the main event from Hasbro!
As it should be, the GamerVerse Juggernaut Legends figure is almost ludicrously huge and muscle-bound. His body is over 20% bigger than the 2016 Juggernaut Build-A-Figure, who was a pretty impressive size himself. Some fans might think this is almost gratuitously gargantuan, but I say there’d be little point in doing this MvC mainstay and getting his scale inaccurate.
Hasbro no doubt spent a fortune on the extensive amount of unique tooling this figure required, which is almost certain to not be transferable to any other character. That said, I think we might see a P2 color palette swap of this guy down the road. Just as I’m itching for a pink variant of Shuma-Gorath, I’d love to see the black armor version of Juggernaut from the games.
I’ve heard some suggest a Colossus Juggernaut figure (the photo above is from my old Marvel Infinite Series review of the 4″ scale iteration) could be made utilizing this mold, but I don’t agree as I think the scale and proportions for that are really off. I’d rather see Hasbro update the 2016 Build-A-Figure mold to make the Colossus Juggernaut, if anything.
The big selling point for this Juggernaut figure is obviously his increased size, but Hasbro has increased his articulation as well. While the intense bulk of the figure precludes some of the poseability you’d find on a Spider-Man (there’s only single knee and elbow hinges), Juggs is still sporting butterfly shoulders, a ball-jointed rocker upper torso and even the popular new toe articulation.
Along with an interchangeable pair of grabbing hands to swap for his fists, Juggernaut also includes a new punching effects piece that attaches to his hands (with the bracers removed). The effects piece can also be placed on Juggs’ head to simulate charging or headbutting attacks. There’s no unhelemeted Cain Marko head here, but that makes sense since it’s not part of the video game source material.
As is apropos for the character, Juggernaut sales have been unstoppable thus far. Cain pre-sold out almost immediately on Amazon and Hasbro Pulse, although the new Juggernaut is still available for reservations via EE and some other online retailers (he’s a Fan Channel exclusive, so he‘ll never be sold at Target or Walmart and the like). I thought his hefty price tag might deter some collectors, but it looks like fans are willing to pay the upcharge for this behemoth.
What do you think of the Marvel Legends 2025 Juggernaut figure, Marvel collectors? Is this an instant buy, or does the price or style of this video game Juggs fail to capture your wallet’s heart?
