Red Dead Redemption 2 fan recently uploaded a timelapse video of their successful attempt walking the game’s protagonist, Arthur Morgan, across the map while holding a bowl of stew. This endeavor might not seem like much when compared to facing the game’s gun-wielding cast of characters, but the RDR2’s flora and fauna are just as deadly as its outlaws.

The Rockstar-developed series has gained a following of fans who are seemingly unfazed by spending hours on projects or challenges that pay homage to its games. One fan recently created and uploaded a David-Attenborough-style, five-part Red Dead Redemption 2 nature documentary. It was so thorough, Rockstar itself boosted the documentary on its social media. These fan-made projects aren’t limited to the digital sphere, though. This past May, another Red Dead Redemption 2 fan-made a real-life version of Morgan’s leather-bound journal, complete with 500 printed pages of his writings and more.

For Reddit user GAME-LAPSE, it took 11 hours of failed attempts before being able to completely walk Morgan across the Red Dead Redemption 2 open-world map with a bowl of stew. The video shows Morgan beginning his journey while trudging through a foot of snow and trekking up and down different elevated paths. The snow doesn’t appear to dissipate until Morgan nears the halfway point in his journey. While the outlaw is no longer facing the endless white of snow-covered hills, there is still a good deal of land he has yet to cover with his precious cargo. The video transitions from daytime to nighttime several times, indicating that the walk takes multiple days of in-game time. Finally, after walking through drylands, plains, wetlands, and a city, GAME-LAPSE’s Morgan finally stops walking and eats his stew while watching the sunrise over a shipping port.

GAME-LAPSE said that the final, successful attempt took two hours and 14 minutes to complete. It was the only attempt that wasn’t thwarted by in-game elements like animal attacks or falling. One Reddit user commented that, in their experience, Morgan always “drops his stew bowl when I try to walk around with it for too long.” GAME-LAPSE seemed all too familiar with this aspect of the gameplay, saying they discovered Morgan would continue to hold on to the stew bowl if he avoids certain areas on the map. In the end, GAME-LAPSE posted that the entire challenge took around 13 hours.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s open-world map is one of its biggest draws – and as shown by GAME-LAPSE’s stew bowl achievement, the game’s activities are seemingly endless. Challenges like these certainly serve as a testament to the enduring interest in Red Dead Redemption 2, even three years after its release. It’s fun that players who have finished the game’s story and explored every corner of the map can find new things to do if they think a little outside the box.
