Jennifer Aniston just revealed whether or not she would be open to guest-hosting The Bachelor. The Friends star opened up about her stance on being a part of the franchise after former host Chris Harrison permanently exited his longtime gig. Chris left the show following his defense of former contestant Rachael Kirkconnell’s attendance at a 2018 Antebellum party, despite appearing on the show’s first season led by a Black Bachelor. Chris’ exit opened up opportunities for other celebrities to guest-host the popular matchmaking show.
Bachelor franchise alums Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams are already hosting Katie Thurston’s current season of The Bachelorette in lieu of Chris, while comedian David Spade has been confirmed to be guest-hosting the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise. The new format of rotating guest hosts is a big change of pace for viewers of the reality dating show, which routinely featured Chris as the sole host across all shows. Other celebrities set to host the seventh season of BIP include Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland and her fiancé, former Bachelorette contestant and resident BIP bartender, Wells Adams.
Jennifer, a fan of the show herself, was recently asked if she would ever be open to taking up the guest-hosting mantle. “God, I don’t know. I think they need a psychologist or psychiatrist, not just Chris Harrison — or whoever the host is now. There should be someone they can go and talk to,” Jennifer told InStyle after being jokingly prompted that Bachelor contestants need to see doctors. “OK, well, I’ll do that. Gladly. I’ll be the one picking roses in the rose garden,” Jennifer said about taking on the role of the person contestants talk to. She also said the best part of The Bachelor franchise is Bachelor in Paradise, which is coincidentally the part that’s looking for guest hosts.
Among all the Bachelor talk, Jennifer also spoke about how she’s still close with her Friends co-stars and the revelation that her part on Muddling Through almost lost her the role of Rachel Green. She also talked about filming season 2 of her Apple+ TV show, The Morning Show, under COVID-19 protocol, which inhibited her from being with the cast as much as she was during the first season. Along with the second season of her SAG award-winning show, she’s also set to begin filming Murder Mystery 2, the sequel to Netflix’s comedy/mystery film, with Adam Sandler this fall. The Morning Show season 2 is also set to premiere this fall, on September 17.
While it seems like Jennifer’s answer about taking on Chris’ former role wasn’t meant to be taken seriously, a revolving door of guest-hosts still leaves open an opportunity for her to change her mind. It certainly seems like Jennifer has a busy schedule as of now, so that might be a factor as to why she won’t be handing out roses next season. However, with a Modern Family actress stepping up to the hosting position, it’s not out of the question that other sitcom stars will step up to the plate. Maybe we’ll even see one of Jennifer’s Friends co-stars hosting The Bachelor next season.
