The Boss Baby: Family Business is pulling in quite the A-list cast, as actors such as Jeff Goldblum, James Marsden, and Eva Longoria have signed onto the sequel. The Boss Baby: Family Business is intended to be a follow-up to the first film, The Boss Baby, which follows the story of Tim Templeton and his ridiculously mature younger brother, Ted, also known as “The Boss,” or Boss Baby.
Although The Boss Baby was called a somewhat generic animated movie by reviewers, it still managed to fare quite well at box offices and turned into a strong financial showing for both Universal and Dreamworks. As a result, The Boss Baby: Family Business is currently set for release in March of 2021. While the plot for the sequel is still under wraps, directors have confirmed that Alec Baldwin will be returning to voice the suit-clad Boss Baby.

Variety reports that several other stars have joined Baldwin for The Boss Baby: Family Business as well, including Goldblum, Marsden, and Longoria, among others. Marsden and Longoria are confirmed to voice the parents of Tabitha, a young, 7-young-old girl who idolizes Ted and has a genius-level IQ. Goldblum, on the other hand, will voice the founder of the Acorn Center for Advanced Childhood, which is the school Tabitha attends. In addition, Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow are set to return as the voices of Ted’s parents.
Director Tom McGrath looks back at his experience on the first The Boss Baby fondly and has high hopes for the second film. He states he’s extremely lucky to work alongside “such a talented ensemble of actors“ and is excited to bring the characters within the sequel to life. McGrath also stresses the importance of creative freedom and notes that he encourages “subtle adjustments” and “improvisation” of lines as needed in order to fully create a character. Such a perspective is likely welcome news for cast members, most of whom have comedic backgrounds and will shine when given the opportunity to put their own unique twists on their characters.
Even if it isn’t yet clear what crazy (mis)adventures Boss Baby will be cooking up this time around, it seems he’s certainly in for a wild ride. In 2017, The Boss Baby was a charming, somewhat unexpected smash hit for Universal and Dreamworks; now, it seems studio executives are attempting to replicate that success. One thing’s for sure: with the massive star power that this cast brings, The Boss Baby: Family Business is aiming for a box office financial takeover come 2021.
