Not all stories are worth telling…
Honestly, kind of an odd tagline, but I’m willing to forgive it, considering the found-footage horror movie Erie looks, well, pretty damn eerie.
Ahead of the film’s world premiere at Beyond Fest, we have our first look at the teaser below. In it, characters search for their friend Fred in a dark building. I won’t spoil how it ends.
Here’s the official synopsis: Fall, 1999. In the town of Erie, Pennsylvania, a string of bizarre suicides has quietly unsettled the community. Stella and her brother, Oscar, return to their childhood home armed with nothing but an old camcorder, a few leads, and a desperate need to understand what’s happened to their town… and to their sister. What begins as a personal investigation quickly spirals into something dark and unhinged, as they dig deeper into a pattern no one else seems willing to acknowledge. As the investigation twists through conspiracy theories, personal secrets, and local lore, what began as a search for answers becomes a descent into paranoia, grief, and something possibly far more sinister.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Alison-Eve Hammersley, who has won various awards for her short films. She co-wrote the script with J. Batzli.
Producers are Hammersley and Anna Golin for Rat’s Nest Pictures, Thomas Hartmann (“Hal & Harper”), genre producer George Henry Horton for Dark Atlantic (Dark Hollow, Strawstalker) and Matt Gossen.
Erie will have its world premiere on October 1st during Beyond Fest at Los Feliz Theater in Los Angeles. Get your tickets here; they go live at 9 am the morning of the screening.
