King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have announced a new album, ‘FLIGHT b741’.

The release, the band’s 26th studio album, is set to come out on August 9 via their own p(doom) Records, and its lead single is set to arrive on July 9.

The prolific Australian rockers last released an album, ‘The Silver Cord’, in October 2023. It was their third album of the year, so the band have been relatively quiet in 2024 by their usual (incredibly productive) standards.

“Been working real hard on this one. So excited for you all to hear it!” wrote lead vocalist Stu Mackenzie on Instagram as he announced the new album.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are also heading off on a North American tour supported by the likes of New York post-punks Geese and Australian surf rockers King Stingray from next month, beginning with a show at Washington D.C.’s The Anthem. And next summer, they’re playing a series of European shows. You can check out the full list of tour dates and buy tickets here.

Earlier this year, the band played Lollapalooza across Argentina, Chile and Brazil, and then played a range of European tour dates, including six shows in the UK. They debuted five of the tracks on ‘FLIGHT b741’ during their European tour, including album closer ‘Daily Blues’.

Meanwhile, band member Ambrose Kenny-Smith told SPIN back in May that the new album would be “Pretty rock/blues rock – sort of like a classic ‘70s-sounding album. Lots of energy. Lots of big vibes going on.”

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s ‘FLIGHT b741’ tracklist is:

1. ‘Mirage City’
2. ‘Antarctica’
3. ‘Raw Feel’
4. ‘Field of Vision’
5. ‘Hog Calling Contest’
6. ‘Le Risque’
7. ‘Flight b741’
8. ‘Sad Pilot’
9. ‘Rats In The Sky’
10. ‘Daily Blues’
