Rob Zombie

Rob Zombie is nothing if not divisive. The Devil’s Rejects has received a level of acclaim from the moviegoing public and critics alike. But most of his work is either loved or hated, without a lot of middle ground. And that’s certainly the case with The Lords of Salem.

Although I’m not a fan of all of Zombie’s films, I must admit that I rather appreciate The Lords of Salem. I thought this satanic fever dream was weird the first time I saw it. And it is weird. But upon a reappraisal, I connected with how dark and depraved the flick gets. I appreciate that the musician-turned-director just goes for it. There’s something to be said for throwing caution to the wind and pushing boundaries. I additionally appreciate that all the characters look very much like they teleported from the mid-1970s into the present (circa 2012).

I understand this film isn’t for everyone. But I would vehemently argue there is merit to it. If you haven’t seen Lords of Salem, or perhaps weren’t taken with it upon your inaugural viewing, you’re in luck, the flick is now streaming for free (with ads) on Tubi.

The Lords of Salem stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Meg Foster, Bruce Davison, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Judy Geeson, Patricia Quinn, Ken Foree, and Dee Wallace.

The setup is as follows: A radio DJ (Moon Zombie) in Salem, Mass., is plagued by nightmarish visions of vengeful witches after she plays a record by a mysterious group known only as “The Lords.”

That’s all we’ve got for the time being. Stay tuned to the site for more updates on what’s streaming and where. And be sure to follow @DreadCentral on Twitter so you never miss an update.
