Writer/Director Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise presented several buzzworthy Evil Dead moments and set pieces, including the title card that arrives just as a Deadite rises from the lake. All of it, of course, by meticulous design as evidenced by the film’s stunning concept art.

Cronin took to Twitter today to share some of the concept art for the new entry in the Evil Dead franchise.

The filmmaker said, “Nothing on screen in #EvilDeadRise happened by accident. It took meticulous planning with an incredible group of talented people. And concept art was the entry point into our world. Here’s a little taste.”

The concept artwork looks identical to the film, demonstrating that Cronin did indeed succeed in carefully translating the images to screen. Take a closer look at the images below.

In the fifth Evil Dead film, “a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End) and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) star alongside Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan. Sam RaimiBruce Campbell and Robert Tapert produced.

I wrote in my Evil Dead Rise review for BD, “Evil Dead Rise is an absolute crowd pleaser that’s best enjoyed with a rowdy crowd of fellow fans.”

Evil Dead Rise has scared up an impressive run at the box office, currently on track to top 2013’s Evil Dead, as of yesterday. That means that all signs are pointing to more Deadite carnage in the future.
