Happily ever after might be asking too much. The Princess Murders, the upcoming horror comic from Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs) and Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash), is bringing a killer into the fairy tale kingdom, and one of its debut covers pays tribute to Sam Raimi’s Army of Darkness.

Image Comics releases the 40-page first issue on December 9, with the Army of Darkness horror homage variant illustrated by Seeley and Allen Passalaqua.

The story follows Princess Lottie and her wicked stepsister Edwige to Sardinia, where visiting princesses are competing to marry Prince Carlo. Unfortunately, somebody else has arrived with a very different agenda. A killer wearing black gloves is stalking the castle, turning the royal competition into a fight to survive.

It’s princesses, backstabbing, and slasher horror from two creators who know their way around turning seemingly sweet worlds into nightmares. And yes, the official description even teases the possibility of musical numbers.

You can preorder the Army of Darkness homage cover for $4.99 through Third Eye Comics. This is Cover C, for those adding it to their pull lists.
