Despite a questionable final season, there is no denying that Game of Thrones is one of the most influential television shows of all time, not just because it brought the high fantasy genre to the big screen, but because it has since gone on to pave the way for other projects set in the A Song of Ice and Fire saga by author George R.R. Martin.

Since Game of Thrones came to an end back in 2019, two spin-off shows have achieved critical acclaim: House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Now, with House of the Dragon set to welcome its fourth and final season some time in 2028, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms returning for its second in the first half of 2027, there has never been a better time to be a fan of the incredible fantasy universe, and that is not to mention Aegon’s Conquest which is also reportedly in development.

That being said, it seems as though one of these spin-off shows is set to welcome a genre change later this year.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Returns This Year

Although we still have until the new year to wait for season two of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, it is not all doom and gloom as the hit HBO television series is set to make a major return this winter, albeit not in the way we would expect.

That is because the Game of Thrones spin-off show is getting a dedicated official trading card game, complete with autographs and sketches from the incredibly talented cast.

Unveiled by Rittenhouse Archives, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 Trading Cards will launch Winter 2026, and whilst potential customers have not yet received a full breakdown of what will be included, we do know that the show’s cast will be playing a large role.

What we do know, is that Rittenhouse Archives has previously released trading cards for House of the Dragon, and so, by that logic, we can expect A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 Trading Cards to include base cards, autographed cards, hand-drawn sketch cards, and more. With the HOTD edition including over 30 autographs from both crew and cast, we can only hope that the same level of detail will be included in its A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms version.

The Future is Looking Fantastical

With season one of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms currently sitting at a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and 8.6/10 on IMDB, it is safe to say that the Game of Thrones spin-off show is a hit, and we can only imagine that season two will follow the same formula. Not only that, but despite the show reportedly set to run for three seasons, showrunner Ira Parker has previously revealed hopes that it will go on for even longer, and with author George R.R. Martin on-board, after cutting ties with House of the Dragon showrunners, it is safe to say that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a labor of love for all involved.
