Chloë Grace Moretz (Let Me In, Carrie) is heading into another nightmare, this time with Piggy director Carlota Pereda.
Today we have a first look at Moretz in Found Alive, a survival thriller that will make its world premiere at Sitges on October 8, opening this year’s festival. The photo finds a visibly battered Moretz looking back over her shoulder against a blur of nighttime lights.
According to Sitges’ official announcement, the film will also screen in the Official Fantàstic Competition, with Pereda becoming the first Spanish female filmmaker to open the festival.
Moretz plays Reeve LeClaire, who escaped a sadistic kidnapper as a teenager. Ten years later, she agrees to help a newly rescued survivor, only to discover that other missing women could still be in danger. Confronting her own trauma, Reeve becomes caught in a deadly race to find them before it’s too late.
Rupert Friend (Separation) also stars, with Matt Venne and Lori Evans Taylor writing the screenplay.
Moretz has been part of our horror world since The Amityville Horror back in 2005, going on to play the vampire Abby in Let Me In and the title character in Carrie, with Suspiria and Greta also on her résumé. That combination of vulnerability and danger is a big part of what makes her such a welcome presence in the genre.
