That doesn’t mean everyone is convinced. Some longtime fans remain protective of Scorsese’s 1991 film, which is widely regarded as one of the most intense thrillers of its era. Others have questioned whether any adaptation can truly escape the shadow of De Niro’s unforgettable performance.
Still, the early consensus appears positive. While the films delivered a tightly wound thriller, the Apple TV+ series seems more interested in exploring the psychological damage left in Cady’s wake.
