Game of Thrones fans are counting down the days for HBO’s House of the Dragon Season 3, set to release later this month on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The second season ended up being quite divisive for fans for various reasons, including odd pacing decisions, a controversial finale, and diversions from George R.R. Martin’s source material in Fire & Blood.

That said, whether you love or hate where the show is headed, fans of the franchise will be tuning in, and can even take part in this season’s Dance of the Dragons war games with the newly released Dragonfire game that just launched earlier this week. Further, Game of Thrones fans are getting yet another new game scheduled for later this month called Masters of Intrigue, available for pre-order now (via Resurrection Games).

Masters of Intrigue is a newly announced game from Resurrection Games that’s currently available for pre-order for roughly $25 USD and expected to launch on Monday, June 15. This new tabletop card game is designed for three to five players and playable in just 15 to 25 minutes. The game attempts to emulate the political backstabbing and intrigue that made George R.R. Martin’s world famous, distilled into a quick and fun card game experience.

Masters of Intrigue puts players in the role of cunning power brokers maneuvering through Westeros’ great Houses. Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, Greyjoy, Tyrell, and Baratheon are all included as house options, with players constantly weighing whether to support the current balance of power or betray their allies at exactly the right moment.

Every decision counts: who you align with, when you betray, and how well you read your opponents. Hidden agendas, shifting allegiances, and clever timing are the keys to victory. With iconic Houses like Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and more in play, each game captures the ruthless politics of Westeros in under an hour. Quick to learn but rich in strategy, Masters of Intrigue is perfect for fans who crave sharp turns, bold plays, and unforgettable betrayals.

The rules are quite straightforward and easy to learn, where one person starts by building the “Realm Deck” and then shuffling and dealing cards to each player. Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue is played over several rounds, or “chapters,” each representing “a chapter in the stories of plotting, alliance-making, and power plays among the great houses of Westeros. One player is selected to be Hand of the King and they start the chapter with the first cycle of intrigue.”

From there, The Hand of the King selects a card to throw, while all other players choose if they maintain allegiance to the “lead house” or choosing to rebel and support a different house. “Tricks are taken based on how many allied cards vs how many cards in rebellion are played, with your goal to be to collect points each cycle.” Points are accumulated over several cycles, and “the first player with the most points at the end of the game wins and is declared the King or Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, of the Andols, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Protector of the Realm!”

While there are several unique tabletop games out there featuring Game of Thrones characters and narratives, Masters of Intrigue is an affordable and easy-to-learn option that any die-hard fan will love to have as a party game option, and it’s well worth checking out when the game releases later this month.
