Crimson Desert players are waiting anxiously to find out how Pearl Abyss will approach fun bugs. That is, glitches that happen to be fun. Blizzard has become infamous for patching out all sorts of Diablo 4 exploits to the chagrin of people using those exploits to deal bonkers numbers, but Pearl Abyss hasn’t really been tested with this sort of thing. Well, until now anyway.
I found this Crimson Desert gliding hack on the game’s subreddit, where most commenters have decided it’s a bugged mechanic. As you’ll see in the below video, it’s being used to drastically increase the speed and amount of distance you can cover using the game’s gliding mechanic. Check it out:
Crimson Desert throws players into an absolutely enormous open world that’s twice the size of Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and even bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2’s map. You can use all sorts of mounts to get around, including flying ones later in the game, not to mention things like hot air balloons, jetpacks, and trains, but there’s nothing like using your crow’s wings to glide around those gorgeous landscapes Breath of the Wild-style. This trick essentially makes that method substantially more efficient, although you need to have a few skills unlocked to pull it off.

Reddit user Sallazard, who shared the above video, also explained how to use the trick in very simple terms. If you just want the raw button prompts, you’ll see that in the video’s caption. Otherwise, you just need to jump or double-jump for some extra height and then press down both control sticks at the same time, or hit X on PC, to enter focus mode the very moment your wings are activated.
From there, hit circle or B (alt on keyboard) to use aerial roll while pressing forward, and then get a speed boost from Forced Propulsion by hitting R1/RB/left mouse click. As seen in a number of videos circulating social media, that’ll let you glide around at a speed that probably isn’t what Pearl Abyss intended, and everyone’s worried the exploit is going to be patched out.
“Please, dont patch,” pleas Sallazard.
“Dear devs, please do not patch this. this is a creative use of the abilities and it’s fun,” says NoEconomics8601.
“It is a total game changer for gliding,” says k7eric. “I can probably glide twice as far now based on my current stamina and spirit.”
Unfortunately, most are in agreement that, “Yeaaaaa its so over its gonna get patched lol,” in the words of one Sliceofmayo.
Pearl Abyss has the chance to score big with the vocal segment of Crimson Desert players who think fun is fun, whether it’s intended or not. That said, this trick is brazenly overpowered and might clash with the developer’s open-world design philosophy. The studio has definitely shown it’s listening to fans with the removal of AI-generated art and the addition of new, permanent mounts, but it remains to be seen how it’ll handle player-discovered exploits like this one.
