In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the beloved TRANSFORMERS franchise, marking “40 Years. One Legacy.”, today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, announced the upcoming spring 2025 release of THE TRANSFORMERS Compendium Vol. 1, which will collect every issue of the original Marvel Comics series for the landmark franchise in a new reader-friendly compendium format for the very first time. This will be followed later in 2025 with a second volume completing the entire Marvel series run.

With stories from writers Bob Budiansky (Sleepwalker), Bill Mantlo (The Incredible Hulk), Jim Salicrup (Spider-Man), and art from Frank Springer (Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Don Perlin (Ghost Rider), Jose Delbo (Wonder Woman), THE TRANSFORMERS Compendium Vol. 1 is the first compendium of its kind, promising to transport readers into the Marvel Era of the beloved series—including a guest appearance from your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!

THE TRANSFORMERS rocked the comic book world with their debut that was truly …MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE…, and now fans can experience every issue from the original series and its tie-ins. Discover the heroic Autobots, the evil Decepticons, and the galaxy-spanning war that will leave you breathless.

Collecting issues #1-44 of the original THE TRANSFORMERS comics and HEADMASTERS #1-4 limited series, longtime and new fans alike can expect to relive the classic 80s Marvel stories that started it all for the Robots in Disguise when this compendium hits comic book shops on April 9, 2025.

“Together, Skybound and Hasbro have brought the TRANSFORMERS back to the top of the sales charts with the best-selling Energon Universe shared universe, and now it’s time to shine a light on the 40 years of comics and creators that paved the way,” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher, Skybound. Starting with The Transformers and G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero compendium series, we’re thrilled to give both new and original fans the chance to read the comics that started it all, as we build out the most comprehensive Hasbro backlist publishing program possible.”

Alongside the G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Compendium Vol. 1 being published this October, Skybound’s ongoing compendium release slate is an integral component of its overall comics partnership with Hasbro. While the Energon Universe has delivered a fresh new start for these franchises in Void Rivals by writer Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and artist Lorenzo De Felici (Oblivion Song), TRANSFORMERS by writer Daniel Warren Johnson (ExtremityDo a Powerbomb) and artist Jorge Corona (Middlewest), Duke by writer Joshua Williamson (DC’s SupermanDark Ride) and artist Tom Reilly (The Thing), and Cobra Commander by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook), these compendiums celebrate the rich histories of TRANSFORMERS and G.I.
