Oh, how the mighty have fallen. But if you’re Michael Myers you gather yourself, zip up your coveralls, and hope another studio will pick up your story. And that is exactly what Miramax did.

According to Deadline, Halloween isn’t dead, especially after the divisive David Gordon Green reboot trilogy that started strong but literally fell to pieces by the end. Miramax Television snatched up the rights to this iconic slasher last year and plans on bringing it to the small screen with a whole new series. And that’s not all, this could go beyond the small screen and become a cinematic universe.

“We’re on a fast track, it’s a big priority for us. We’ve had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to be doing very soon,” said Marc Helwig head of Miramax Worldwide Television. “We’re hoping to lock down the creative team very soon.”

The company also points out that they haven’t hired a writer yet, but they have an idea of what they are going to do and it looks like they are confident about that.

“It’s a big world,” Helwig said referring to the current Halloween universe. That realm ended with Halloween Ends and Helwig said they won’t build upon that chronology.

“The foundation of it is the original film, the John Carpenter movie, the characters of that film, and perhaps a group of characters that we haven’t really focused on that much in recent film versions or even in a number of them,” Helwig said. “It’s a creative reset completely and going back to the original film, as opposed to spinning out of any of the more recent film adaptations.”
