Last year DST gave us the first look at some of their upcoming Lord of The Rings figures, including Merry & Pippin who are in the same wave. Then earlier this week they went up for pre-order on various websites.
Diamond Select Toy’s Lord of The Rings line continues to grow and expand with some The Hobbit figures on the way down the line. During NYCC Diamond Select Toys showed off Merry, Pippin, and Gandalf The White. However, they were unclear if Merry & Pippin would come packed together as a deluxe set along with Gandalf being single-packed.
Diamond Select Toys decided to release Merry & Pippin separately in the same wave with plenty of accessories. I have to say I am very happy to see the figure photos as we didn’t get a really close look at them during the conventions. Now with the promotional pictures, we can see the likenesses up close. The likenesses to Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd are excellent especially Dominic (who played Merry)
The detailing on the costumes is great with textured jackets, vests, and scarves. I’m very curious to see what accessories they’ll come with. I have heard that they would come with smoking pipes, tankards & cloaks among other accessories. If they do come with swords and sheaths for them, I hope they can attach to their belts in some way. The figures are expected to be released in the summer of this year.
