Capcom continues to rake in the sales for the Resident Evil series. In the company’s latest financial report, not only have the recent three remakes added to their totals from this past summer, but the series as a whole now stands at 150 million units sold. This makes the Resident Evil series Capcom’s best-selling property.
The report delves into the second quarter for Capcom’s Fiscal Year 2023, covering May through August (thanks, RelyOnHorror). The report notes that Capcom’s remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 have now sold 13.3 million, 8 million and 5.4 million in sales, respectively. This is obviously up from the totals from June, which Capcom had reflected in their list of million-selling “Platinum Titles” back in August.
For those curious, the remake of Resident Evil 2 is not (yet) the best-selling Capcom game, as Monster Hunter: World still remains on top. Meanwhile, the Devil May Cry series now stands at 30 million units sold throughout its lifetime, while Dragon’s Dogma sits at 7.9 million units, with the impending sequel obviously ratcheting that up upon its release.
The report isn’t all good news, however. Their new IP in Exoprimal, which arrived this past July for PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, still hasn’t cracked the million milestone, and sits at under 940,000 units sold. That doesn’t bode well for the teased Dino Crisis content for the game (though to be honest, fans want an actual Dino Crisis revival instead of a tribute).
