A new deal has been inked between Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, The Hollywood Reporter explains this afternoon.

The basic gist? Starting in 2022, Universal’s theatrical releases will be heading to the Peacock streaming service “no later than four months” after they arrive on the big screen.

THR further explains, “However, Universal is going further in deciding to carve up the 18th month pay-one window so as to license its content across a variety of platforms. For the first and last four months, movies will play exclusively on Peacock; for the intervening 10 months, they will be made available to other partners that have yet to be disclosed.”

The deal includes not only Universal films but also films released under the umbrellas Focus Features, Illumination and DWA. Exclusive content will also be made for Peacock.

Upcoming movies from Universal next year include Jurassic World: Dominion, and THR notes that Jordan Peele‘s mysterious third movie is also set for release in Summer 2022.

There’s also of course Halloween Ends as well, dated for October 2022. As for Peacock exclusives from Universal, we’ve heard Rob Zombie’s The Munsters may go that route.
