Moor Mother—aka Camae Ayewa—has announced her next album. It’s called Black Encyclopedia of the Air, and it is out September 17 via her new label Anti-. Today, she has shared the new single “Obsidian,” which features Pink Siifu. Check out the Ari Marcopoulos–directed visual for the track below and scroll down for the album art and tracklist.

According to a press release, while Moor Mother wrote “Obsidian” she was “thinking about one’s proximity to violence. Thinking about violence in the home. Violence in communities.”

Marcopoulous added: “We decided to start the video in front of Alice and John Coltrane’s house. Nuff said. I could elaborate if you want me too. But it’s the spirit right there.”

Moor Mother recorded Black Encyclopedia of the Air at home in March 2020. She worked alongside soundscape artist and producer Olof Melander. The new album features the previously shared song “Zami.”
