Theatrhythm is an IP of rhythm games that Square Enix makes. The IP’s games have previously featured characters from the company’s Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy series. Unfortunately, Theatrhythm has been relatively dormant for years. The last video game release was Theatrhythm Dragon Quest in 2015 for the 3DS, and arcades last saw a release in 2016, due to Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: All-Star Carnival.
Well, although there’s still no new game announcements as of this article’s writing, there’s been a major sign that Square Enix has not forgotten about the franchise. Square Enix has trademarked Theatrhythm in Australia and Canada, and coincidentally, it happens to be only a couple of days away from the company’s 40-minute long Square Enix Presents digital presentation. If they are making a new Theatrhythm game for the first time in 5 years, it’s not out of the question that it could be revealed there.
