Japanese Breakfast was the musical guest on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Michelle Zauner and her band performed “Be Sweet” from her forthcoming album Jubilee. As a web exclusive, she also performed the Soft Sounds From Another Planet song “Jimmy Fallon Big.” Watch it happen below.

Fallon gave an intro at the top of the show to discuss the origins of “Jimmy Fallon Big.” Zauner previously discussed that song on NPR’s All Songs Considered and her desire to eventually perform on Fallon.

“I wrote this song about the bass player of Little Big League. He’d been offered a better touring gig and so he sat me down at my kitchen table and told me he had to quit the band because this other band were going to be ‘Jimmy Fallon big.’ At the time it felt like losing a brother, and there was this shame, feeling like I was never going to get there myself. Funny enough, he now plays bass in Japanese Breakfast! Now we just need to play Jimmy Fallon and the cycle will be complete!”

Jubilee is out June 4 via Dead Oceans. Read Pitchfork’s new feature “Japanese Breakfast Is Working the Pain Away.”
