New to Prime Video to stream this weekend
Scarpetta
Available: US/UK
There has long been talk of adapting the cases of Patricia Cornwell’s forensic pathologist, Kay Scarpetta, for the screen, with big names like Jodie Foster and Helen Mirren previously attached way back in the ’90s. The character has finally made it to our screens in this new Prime Video thriller, starring Nicole Kidman as Kay, with Jamie Lee Curtis executive producing and co-starring as Scarpetta’s snarky sister Dorothy. The eight-episode series takes place across two time periods, with Scarpetta investigating the death of a biomedical engineer in the present, in a case that bears some eerie similarities to a series of killings from the ’90s.
This season adapts two of Cornwell’s books and takes some wild swings along the way. If you’re looking for a tense thriller that will keep you guessing all the way to the end, this one is for you.

Siren’s Kiss
Available: US/UK
This romantic thriller has been a hit in South Korea. Based on a TV show from the ’90s, Koori no Sekai, Siren’s Kiss follows insurance investigator Cha Woo-seok (Wi Ha-joon) as he looks into a series of fraud cases – and deaths – that all link back to the same mysterious woman, Han Seol-ah (Park Min-young). As Woo-seok gets closer to Han Seol-ah, he finds himself questioning if she is a villain or a victim. Cha is a former cop, and he’ll have to draw on all of his experiences if he’s to solve the mystery – and make it out alive.
With a slow-burn plot and steamy tension between its two leads, Siren’s Kiss is an intriguing new show. The first season is 12-episodes long, with four available to watch right now, making this a great time to jump on board.

The Gray House
Available: US/UK
This epic historical mini-series is based on the true story of Elizabeth Van Lew (Mary-Louise Parker), a woman who led a network of Union spies in Virginia during the American Civil War. Initially, we see the events of this brutal conflict primarily through the eyes of Elizabeth, as well as sex worker Clara Parish (Hannah James), but the scope of the story being told soon broadens out to take in more lives, including figures like John Wilkes Booth. It’s a fascinating and dramatic depiction of a brutal era and the women fighting for change.
All eight episodes of The Gray House landed on Prime Video at the end of February, making this the ideal weekend binge watch if you’re in the mood for something educational as well as entertaining.
