After surprise-dropping a bunch of Marvel Legends Retro re-releases over the past month, Hasbro its stealthy ways this week by opening pre-orders for a two-pack that was only announced yesterday: the Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Mandarin & Iron Man Extremis figures set is now up for PO! Mandarin is one of the most-demanded remaining characters for the line. How’s he look?

After Hasbro finally debuted Mephisto at SDCC 2025, The Mandarin quickly skyrocketed to perhaps the singular most-needed villain for Hasbro’s Marvel Legends collection of 6” figures. His reign at the top has been abruptly cut short, though, as Hasbro has now announced their first 6” Mandarin figure less than a month later!

Even so, not all Iron Man fans are rejoicing, as Hasbro’s design choice for the toy isn’t exactly his most iconic look.

Box Back Marvel Legends Iron Man Mandarin Exclusive SetFor their first pass at a 6” Mandarin Legends figure, Hasbro has opted to go for the Mandarin in suit look from Matt Fraction’s legendary invincible Iron Man run that started in 2008.

Marvel Legends The Mandarin Figure and Accessories Hasbro 2025This was immediately a controversial choice, with collectors asking for everything from the classic Mandarin costume to his 90s cartoon look to his armored look more frequently than the suit and tie design.

2025 Marvel Legends Mandarin in Suit Action FigureBut Hasbro has a track record of being clever and releasing less popular versions of characters first, so I’m not all that stunned to see this business suit Mandarin (largely built with tooling from Wenwu) being launched before more iconic looks (particularly a likely budget-heavy armored look).

Hasbro Marvel Legends 2025 Mandarin & Tony Stark Iron Man Action FiguresThis is not even close to my favored look for Mandarin, but it is a low-budget and very real look for the character that doesn’t lean into divisive stereotypes. I definitely don’t like at all that none of the alternate hands are packing Mandarin’s signature 10 Rings, though. That seems like a super cheap cop-out move.

Iron Man Legends Extremis Mandarin Set Amazon Exclusive HasbroAccompanying Mandarin is an updated Marvel Legends Extremis Iron Man. At a glance this might look like a straight repack of the prior one from the Puff Adder Series, but I think Hasbro has done enough to make this release worthy of upgrading to for big fans of the armor.Marvel Legends Extremis Iron Man Hasbro 2025 Exclusive 6" FigureExtremis Iron Man now has much brighter colors that look better, along with improved articulation including a crunch and butterfly shoulders. The articulation and better colors are big wins on this Iron Man, in my opinion, and also make him the more appealing figure in the set compared to a Mandarin that many will find “boring”.

The more saturated color on the Extremis armor make a big, big difference in the overall aesthetic compared to the drab palette on the 2023 iteration.

Marvel Legends Extremis Iron Man Mandarin Two Pack FiguresThe Marvel Legends Iron Man Extremis & Mandarin set is now up for order exclusively on Amazon, and will ship out this fall. It’s priced at $50, which seems fine for a hotly-demanded character and the best version of one of the most popular Iron Man armor permutations.

What do you think of this 2-pack, Marvel collectors? Which version of the Mandarin is your preference, and will you be picking this one up?
