Our favorite Jason, Kane Hodder, had a message for his fans this week. He took to social media to promote his latest film The Activated Man. But he also says this is unlike any movie he has ever done, adding he believes it’s the best acting performance of his career. “It’s very close to my heart. It shows a different side of me that people have never seen.”

The film is getting a limited theatrical run and is already available to rent on Apple TV and Vudu.

Also in the video, Hodder honors his friend and co-star Tony Todd who recently passed away. “I miss him greatly. It’s his last leading performance in a film.”

Known famously for playing Jason Voorhees in four Friday the 13th films, Hodder started in showbusiness as a stuntman. His last appearance as Jason in a theatrical film was Jason X (2001). He was slated to play Jason again in Freddy vs. Jason back in 2003, but that film’s director, Ronny Yu, hired  Ken Kirzinger instead.

Subsequently director Adam Green hired him as the Jason-like monster, Victor Crowley, for his 2006 camp slasher Hatchet.

The Activated Man

The Activated Man does look supernaturally interesting. It has not been on a lot of people’s radar but based on the trailer it looks promising. Here’s what it’s about:

“As Ors Gabriel struggles with the grief from losing his best friend and beloved dog to cancer, the trauma brings on strange visions only Ors can see. While he questions whether his mind has fractured or if it’s actually real, a mysterious rise in murder-suicides takes hold of the city, and Ors becomes haunted by images of a shadowy figure known as ‘The Fedora Man.’ Through torments and terror, Ors must face his fears and confront ‘The Fedora Man’ as he uncovers dark secrets from his past, while finally embracing who he really is, and what he is meant to do.”

At almost 70 years old, Hodder is still making movies. His IMDb page lists about 13 films in either pre-production or post-production. But he really wants you to see his latest film and tell him in-person what you think.

“Take a look at The Activated Man, and I hope to see some of you at conventions later saying how much you enjoyed it.”

The Activated Man is now available on Apple TV and Vudu. It will be streaming on other services soon.
