A Reddit user, anh0l, has reported successfully installing Windows 11 on Arm on his Xiaomi Poco X3.
The device can run both Android and Windows 11. It has a split partition that allows for this dual-boot setup. The system also supports the phone’s 120Hz display and works with a Bluetooth mouse.
But the Reddit user said that the right side of the touch screen faced inverted controls. The device reaches temperatures of approximately 48°C (118.4°F) during operation, and the virtualization features, including VM applications and Windows Subsystem for Linux, are non-functional, as reported by Tom’s Hardware.
Despite these limitations, the user reports that the experience “runs flawlessly” for basic tasks. The system can perform light productivity work, like creating basic animations in Blender 3.6 LTS. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive runs at up to 30fps, but Counter-Strike 2 is unplayable
The compatibility comes down to Windows on Arm being built for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, found in Windows Arm laptops and Android devices. The Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro, with its Snapdragon 860, makes it work.
As Microsoft and Qualcomm continue to improve Windows 11 on Arm, future iterations may see enhanced compatibility and performance on mobile devices.
