Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 27744 to testers in the Canary Channel. This update mainly enhances ARM support and various system elements.

A big change comes to the Prism emulator, which runs x86 (64-bit) applications on ARM devices. The new build lets Prism use more CPU features, including AVX, AVX2, FMA, and XSAVE, reports Windows Latest. This update lets more x64 apps run on ARM devices, opening up options for apps that didn’t work before. These apply only to 64-bit applications, not 32-bit or hybrid apps with 32-bit components.

The Task Manager received visual changes. In the Users tab, there’s now a dark mode-friendly pop-up for Disconnect and Logoff, plus users can see disk type info right in the main interface.

The “All apps” section in the Start Menu has been renamed to simply “All,” and a new “Gamepad” layout has been added in Keyboard settings to make it easier to use Xbox controllers with your keyboard.

Managing your system also got slightly easier—a new button under System > Storage > Disks & Volumes lets you quickly detach VHD/VHDx files.

The build also addresses several bugs, including a black screen issue related to older Nvidia GPUs, problems with the Emoji Panel and Clipboard History, performance issues in Windows Sandbox, and a 60Hz dynamic refresh rate lock.

For now, these features are only available to Canary Channel testers, but Microsoft should roll them out to everyone soon. Given how things have been lately, it’s all part of their push to improve Windows 11’s performance and make it work better on ARM devices.

Users interested in testing these features can join the Windows Insider Program’s Canary channel, but we advise against it as there can be massive bugs that a day-to-day user won’t be able to handle.
