Pokemon GO‘s eagerly anticipated Gigantamax raids didn’t go quite as planned for Niantic and players as to coincide with the event multiple user accounts were accidentally banned by the company. Niantic has acknowledged the unfortunate timing of the accidental bans and has apologised for this. The game’s toughest trial yet wasn’t a disappointment free event, as player response unfortunately turned out to be mixed. Eurogamer reports that 10 players is the recommended minimum for this event, though lobbies can cater for groups of up to 40, of course this wasn’t ideal for smaller community groups. With less players the event was inevitably tougher as it apparently featured a “surprisingly complex set of mechanics” which the majority of mobile gamers weren’t used to and these mechanics were not explained well in game.
