“Deathless”
Mantleless! The world is now free of the vampire invasion known only as the Blood Hunt. Humanity’s savior was not that of Doctor Strange. No, another less powerful sorcerer used lies and deceit to trick the Sorcerer Supreme into handing over his title. But it did not end there.
Under false pretenses, Stephen Strange gave a fragment of his own soul to be used as an anchor. But, with this, the man who promised solidarity lied once again to achieve his own end goal. That is world domination. Now the Earth has a new Sorcerer Supreme. The tyrant known only as Doctor Victor Von Doom.
What does the future hold for Stephen and Clea Strange? Has the Vishanti retracted their support for Doctor Strange in favor of the new Sorcerer Supreme? Will General Strange leave his new world of Cobolorum to help his better half regain his title? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Doctor Strange Volume 06 has now come to an end under much debated circumstances. I find it odd that Marvel Comics is willing to let this series end since, in my opinion, this was one of the better titles they released. My only guess is they are playing the numbers with sales on number one books. They seem to get a huge spike in sales when the first issue of a series releases.
Long gone are the days when Marvel titles ran for 50–60 issues. It’s all about the collector’s market now. Too bad, as I’m a fan of Doctor Strange and I thought Writer Jed MacKay and Artist Pasqual Ferry gave readers excellent content. I’m guessing Doctor Strange will return sooner rather than later, so Marvel can get their sales spike. I just hope they bring back Jed and Pasqual.
I give issue 18 of Doctor Strange three out of five stars, as this was a very quick wrap up. The series as a whole gets four out of five stars. I strongly recommend picking up this series if you are a fan of the character and his co-stars. The earlier issues were the most enjoyable to me, but the series overall was very entertaining.
