Clint Eastwood has enjoyed an enviable career in Hollywood. The actor-turned-director (and former mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea) has been on a hot streak for more than half a century. He famously played the titular character in the Dirty Harry franchise and appeared in countless Western films. He’s truly a jack of all trades and his celebrated filmography proves it.
One of the prolific filmmaker’s less-celebrated efforts recently became available to stream via Tubi. And since even a middle-of-the-road Eastwood effort has merit, we wanted to take a moment to share the particulars with you. The film of which we speak is Absolute Power.
Eastwood plays the lead role in this political thriller and sits at the helm. Although it’s a bit far-fetched and frequently plagued by pacing issues, the film is still reasonably entertaining and worth a watch for Eastwood enthusiasts.

Since Eastwood is so well known for playing lawman Harry Callahan, I enjoyed getting to see him as an outlaw in Absolute Power. I also appreciate the talent attached to the project. He stars alongside Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, and Laura Linney here. Though not a standout effort for Eastwood, this picture is entertaining enough to warrant a watch for anyone with an appreciation for his cinematic output.
Anyone keen to seek the flick out can find the picture streaming on Tubi as of the publication of this post. If you’d like to scope the trailer for Absolute Power, you can view it in the player below.
The setup for the film goes as follows: While robbing the home of aging billionaire Walter Sullivan (E.G. Marshall), Luther Whitney (Clint Eastwood) is interrupted by an amorous couple entering the building. As Whitney hides, he sees Sullivan’s young wife, Christy (Melora Hardin), and the U.S. President, Alan Richmond (Gene Hackman). When their affection turns violent, Christy is killed by the Secret Service. Although Whitney flees, he is framed for the murder. Now, he seeks justice with the help of Detective Seth Frank (Ed Harris).
