Rating: 3 out of 5.

“Night Of The Screaming House!”

Dracula has kidnapped the daughter of vampire hunter, Quincy Harker. Now Frank Drake and his team of motley slayers must infiltrate the vampire’s newest sanctuary, known only as Whispering Hell. While they race through the fog-covered suburbs of eastern London, Dracula makes a unanimous phone call to his newest enemy, Eric Brooks – aka “Blade”.

Unbeknownst to them, Edith Harker has become bait in Count Dracula’s latest scheme to destroy all of his enemies. But, can the vampire lord achieve victory with one bold stroke? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

This issue was a bit confusing at times, but solid entertainment nonetheless. My biggest question is, where the hell does this story actually take place. I think it’s supposed to be somewhere near London, but possibly in the city itself. Or, maybe the Whispering Hell house is way out in the boondocks somewhere. Your guess is as good as mine.

The funnest part of issue #12 is the big reveal of Blade’s mansion. I think it’s supposed to be a mansion, as artist Gene Colan draws every house enormous in size. Writer Marv Wolfman, on the other hand, describes the house as “a slab and mortar building”. I’m not a native Londoner, so can somebody please tell me if that is a good thing or bad? Overall, I liked the story, but it’s a filler issue at best. I give it three out of five stars.
