“All In – Part 03”
Love, loyalty, and a promise. No villain has ever been more challenging or a superpower so great. Yet, in the background of an interstellar casino, two lovers have been jaded by all three of those things. Who is to blame for spoiling a dwindling romance when the flames were so close to reigniting? A feckless warrior who made a pact with an idea over the man it represents? Or some deceitful criminals who play one’s emotional state to their advantage?
Over the next few hours, Jack of Hearts will come to realize that sometimes selfishness is the only way to save what one cares most about. The only question is if the Sensational She-Hulk can survive another broken heart. In space, no one can hear a scorned lover scream.
Reviewer Notes
I will be honest here, Sensational She-Hulk No.08 is about as good as it gets for storytelling and action sequences. And that’s not praise from a fan of the Jade Giantess. There is a significant backlog of material to reference from the Jennifer Walters character. I just don’t understand why Rainbow Rowell wants to spend the bulk of the series iterating this slice-of-life stuff. This is a superhero comic book, not a soap opera. Rainbow dropped references to Sensational She-Hulk Volume One, but all we got was a callback to She-Hulk’s flying car. To be honest, I’m uncertain why Marvel Comics rebooted the Sensational She-Hulk title, as Rainbow Rowell’s run on the regular She-Hulk series is lackluster at best. I’m giving this issue three out of five stars.
