Reviewer Notes

What a weak ending to a floundering story arc this whole thing was. I love the Blade character and everything he has been in up to so far, but this series could have been edited down to five or six books, in my opinion. This just strengthens my belief that comic books are no longer about telling good stories. Marvel Comics are just a widget in a quick cash grab based solely on alternate cover sales.

This final issue is devoid of any stimulating content, with the dialog little less than basic speech. If I remember correctly, when Roger Ebert reviewed the original Star Wars trilogy, he used the term “Basic Speak” in regards to George Lucas writing. Blade #10 checks this box and then some. And not to totally destroy this book, but the plot itself was nothing more than a quick closure to prepare readers for the Blood Hunt crossover. I guess readers will have to wait until other writers can pick up the pieces in this travesty of a series.

I’m giving both the series and the finale a two out of five stars. I really would not recommend getting these books even if you are a fan. There were just too many annoyances that kept me from really immersing myself in the storyline. The biggest mistake here was having Blade grovel at Dracula’s feet. With their past history and Blade’s zealous hatred for all vampire kind, I fail to believe he would ever take this approach in solving his problems.
