“Capwolf And The Howling Commandos – Part 04”

The charges have been set and the race is on to reach the bunker entrance before the place blows to kingdom come. As the boys of Easy Company drag their wounded past the perimeter gates to the surrounding forest a battle rages nearby. The werewolf form of  Captain America is locked in hand to hand combat with the Nazi seer and she-wolf extremist, the one called Ros.

Inside Wolfsschanze, the French spy searches in vain for the antidote to the werewolf serum. The clock is racing to zero hour but Frankie has found nothing but abandoned corridors and dead German soldiers. Then as she rounds a corner near the laboratory chambers she catches sight of the doctor in charge of it all. It’s time to find out the truth behind this Hollywood horror show!

Can Frankie and Dum-Dum Dugan find the hidden antidote before the Wolf’s Lair is blown sky high? Should Captain America start shopping for a flea collar? Did the Nazi scientist really crack the code on DNA and RNA sequencing decades before anyone else? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

This series has been one bumpy road,  however we have finally arrived at the conclusion of Capwolf and the Howling Commandos. Was this story really needed or wanted? I’m not sure. For any hardcore World War II buffs reading this miniseries, I honestly believe they would not like it based on the inaccuracies in the German equipment and vehicles alone. The German military had many groundbreaking designs that were way ahead of their time. There really was no need to change history.

For those that are looking for a unique horror comic to read, I guess this one will do. However, the story really isn’t original. DC Comics literally just did this exact same storyline with Sgt. Rock and a bunch of zombies. Plus look no further than the SyFy for a laundry list of similar themes and ideas.

I’m giving issue four a humble three out of five star review. As a series I also give three out of five stars. The ending here really seemed forced, and don’t get me started on the kiss scene. I always thought of Dum-Dum Dugan as the John Wayne type, not Clark Gable. Gag me with a spoon.
