It’s been a little over two years since New Zealand indie developers Hashbane announced their Dino Crisis-esque game Instinction. The team is still working hard on the development, and in a new newsletter update to fans, they’re eager to show off what they’ve accomplished so far.

For starters, Hashbane gave more details on what Instinction is about. Describing it as a narrative-driven, prehistoric first person action-adventure game, the gameplay will consist of combat, puzzles, stealth, and more. The game will sport 28 prehistoric beasts that will cover the land, sea, and sky, alongside the cast that’s yet to be revealed. Hashbane also says that Instinction will include feature mod support, as well as  contain several game-ready systems, such as third person support.

Your protagonist for this adventure is Isabel “Izzy” Sierra, a young Mexican-American college student who is finishing up her degree when her grandmother falls ill. Her grandmother’s dying request is for Izzy to journey to her birthplace located deep within the Yucatan Peninsula and return an heirloom that belonged to her people. It doesn’t take long for Izzy to realize that she is in over her head. Even more concerning,is a mysterious organization that’s closing in on her grandmother’s village, claiming to be trying to stop a natural disaster.

Finally, while we won’t be getting a demo of the game just yet, Hashbane says that they’ll have a new trailer arriving soon that will include “never before seen gameplay”.

In the meantime, you can head on over to the official site to sign up for Early Access opportunities, as well as wishlist the game on Steam. Instinction is also in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series.
