Until a few weeks ago we hadn’t heard of Bang-On Balls: Chronicles. But one look at the trailer confirming a console release, and we were sold. Now it’s time to play, as Bang-On Balls: Chronicles releases to the world.
Bouncing out of Early Access
After utilising an Early Access period on PC via Steam in which it’s picked up some serious acclaim, Bang-On Balls: Chronicles now launches in full on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC. If it’s a goofy, fun-filled adventure through a sandbox world that you are after, it’s sure to deliver. And if you want to do that as a weird little ball character, then it’s time to open the wallet and splash the cash.
Bang-on Balls Chronicles is a weird one; but it’s a super interesting, highly intriguing one. Mixing genres, merging gameplay ideas and attempting things we’ve never seen in a game before, it has you playing with combat, platforming, collecting and more – all as a ball.
Rolling, jumping, thumping and dashing your way through things will see success found in Bang-on Balls Chronicles. And, on the whole, you can pretty much do what you want, when you want it. Credit has to go to the Exit Plan Games team for creating such a tight gameplay experience, combining it with a ton of humour and joy.
How good is Bang-On Balls: Chronicles?
Our full review of Bang-on Balls Chronicles on Xbox is fast approaching and we’ll let you know how this one plays on console. But early signs are very positive. Perhaps we should have expected that from a team that has the likes of The Witchers 3, Gears of War, Cyberpunk 2077 and Bulletstorm in their history.
“Throughout our careers, we’ve been making games that demanded a very high level of production on a lot of fronts. Tight controls, varied gameplay, smart level design, loads of content, intricate AI systems, the list goes on. All so that these massive maps felt alive and fun to play in for hours and hours. Despite now being an indie dev, we applied the exact same approach and standards here. The game is fundamentally built around the idea of giving players something that is absolutely stuffed with varied things to do but is always fun to play. It’s something that can easily be fired up for a few relaxing minutes and feel like you made progress, or be a game you play for 40+ hours or more.” – Damien Monnier, Studio Co-Founder, Exit Plan Games
