Before SDCC this year Mezco revealed their first Indiana Jones One:12 figure with Temple Escape Indiana Jones which was a Mezco Store Exclusive and I unfortunately missed out on it, not knowing that it was available on Props and Replicas at the time. Then during SDCC itself, Mezco revealed two more Indiana Jones figures from Raiders of The Lost Ark with Major Toht & Cairo Indiana Jones.
On the 22nd of August Mezco announced that Major Toht would be going up for pre-order on the 23rd and that it would be a regular release. I was very impressed with the look of Temple Escape Indiana Jones and I was very keen to know if they would be doing other versions of Indy and other characters. After seeing pictures of Toht and the Ark, I have to say I am very impressed.
The likeness to the late Ronald Lacey is fantastic and spot on! I’m very impressed with the array of accessories he comes with and he pretty much comes with every accessory and interchangeable heads and hands from his introductory scene in Marion’s bar to his grizzly demise at the end of the film! I’m incredibly impressed. You can pretty much recreate every scene he was in the film from getting his hand burned by the staff of Ra’s headpiece to getting melted by the Ark itself! I couldn’t ask for more it comes with everything I would want with a Toht figure to come with!
The melted hands and heads look really suitably gruesome! To top it off he comes with the Ark and it looks incredible. It looks pretty close to the Adventure Series version but this one comes with more detailed carrying poles and has some great added features with a light-up feature and includes a Ghost from the Ark which is a really cool touch and was something missing from the Adventure Series version.
I pre-ordered mine from Props and Replicas last night and it’s the first Mezco One:12 figure I have pre-ordered in a number of years. I would love to get this as I am a big fan of Indiana Jones and I would really like to get more higher-end offerings alongside the Adventure Series. I’m definitely going to get the Cairo Indiana Jones as well when that goes up for pre-order as that is a must-have for me and I can imagine that it will cover most of the film from when he lands in Cairo with Marion to the lorry chase towards the end of the film.
I do wonder how far Mezco will go with the Indiana Jones One:12 figures if they have plans to cover the sequels and do other characters from the film as well. I’m definitely all in for the One:12 Indiana Jones figures and I know the releases will be rather slow. This figure is scheduled to come out in September of next year.
