It sees Billy, Jimmy and some other members of the Double Dragon family, attempting to seize a 1990s New York City from the clutches of criminal gangs. A nuclear war is enveloping the nation. And from there, a tale of the origins of Double Dragon’s iconic fighting duo is told. In a brand new way!
You see, Rise of the Dragon is a unique take on the beat ‘em up genre, as it incorporates roguelite elements. Before heading out on each run, you can use your hard-earned cash from previous playthroughs to upgrade your heroes, or save your money to revive your tag-team buddy if you are playing in co-op. Each playthrough is bespoke. And each comes featuring a variety of difficulty levels, dynamic level structures, and differing enemy types.
It comes with an additional nine unlockable characters. And each have further abilities to check out, as Rise of the Dragon soon becomes a very complicated fighter indeed.
