Multi-award-winning German actress, screenwriter and producer Niki J. Borger and multi-award-winning Israeli producer and director Roy Shellef have been named judges in the newly instated Legacy International Film Festival.
As the first ever crypto-funded film festival, Legacy International Film Festival stands for accessibility, transparency, and fairness. They want to give up-and-coming artists not only the chance to be seen, but to get their work produced. The Legacy International Film Festival provides these opportunities, independent of the limitations filmmakers face when trying to break into the entertainment industry. All film award winners get a chance to pitch their projects. The most convincing projects will go into production.
“At LῙF, we are constantly looking for new talent to work with. The festival gives us the chance to scout!” (C. Montgomery-Bender, Co-founder of LῙF)
Legacy Inspired Films (LῙF), the patron of the LIFF festival, is a leader in the Web3 entertainment industry, creating a first of its kind production studio for streaming content across media platforms. Having been created and supported by a cryptocurrency token, the studio is committed to free expression and believes the best way to combat current trends of suppressing ideas is to focus on what brings us together.
This idea is sustained by selecting an international panel of judges for the festival.
Niki, who has received international recognition in festivals with her work, and won numerous awards as an actress, has lived in several different countries and is fluent in four languages. In addition to more than 20 years of experience as an actor and nearly 30 years as a performer, Niki promotes a cosmopolitan worldview, focused on openness, understanding and building bridges.
“The Legacy International Film Festival makes the entertainment business accessible to everyone, independent of status, fame, or money. We care about your talent, your dedication to the craft, and the story you are telling. I’m proud to support that mission as a festival judge”, Niki says.
She is joined by Roy Shellef, an award-winning Israeli filmmaker now based in Burbank, California. He, too, has won awards in multiple festivals around the world and gained international recognition. His most recent work includes the music video “Ocean” for Jamie Foxx and his production company “Right Direction Studios” and he is currently pre-producing two feature films and a limited series.
According to Roy, “We all know how difficult but yet very exciting this industry is. It is an emotional roller coaster for every filmmaker out there from start to finish. But we are all here, doing what we love, thus through LIFF we want to give the opportunity to so many filmmakers out there, not just to showcase their movies but also produce and distribute them to the audience back home!”
Additional judges will be announced over the following weeks. Submissions for the festival will open in June on filmfreeway. The in-person festival will take place in March 2024 in Hollywood. To stay tuned, LIFF encourages to follow their instagram page @legacyiff.
