Yesterday Hasbro held a panel at Star Wars Celebration 2023 and showed off some upcoming products for the Star Wars & Indiana Jones lines. Their Star Wars reveals they were stretched across the Black Series & Vintage Collection. Though I should mention the day before they announced the Black Series The Bad Batch Series 2 wave which looks very exciting and most of the reveals were yesterday.

The Bad Batch Series 2 Wave consists of Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, & Echo in their Series 2 looks which are more personalized compared to the outfits they wore in the first series. Joining them in the wave is Omega who’s in her Series 2 look along with a Clone Commando, though he goes up for pre-order at a slightly later date. I really like the look of these figures as I missed out on most of the Series 1 versions and go for crazy prices. I really like they have given Tech some separate goggles this time around instead of them being molded into the helmet. I’m really happy that Wrecker is at a standard retail price rather than a deluxe release. I like how they have given them accurate accessories with Hunter now having two blasters and Wrecker having a holster for his big blaster. Giving Omeaga a collapsed bow and a working bow is a great touch and adds some great options for displaying the figure.

The only negative of this wave is that I think the Clone Commando looks undersized, they are quite a bit bulkier than your average Clone Trooper.

Here’s a list of all those reveals:

The Vintage Collection

  • The Mandalorians N-1 Starfighter
  • Return of The Jedi Nien Nunb
  • Return of The Jedi Moff JerJerrod
  • Return of The Jedi Jabba’s Court Denizens
  • The Book of Boba Fett Black Krrsantan

The Black Series

  • The Book of Boba Fett Cad Bane
  • Return of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Force Spirits 3-Pack
  • Return of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Wave 3 R2-D2
  • Return of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Wave 3 Imperial Guard
  • Return of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Wave 3 Darth Vader
  • Return of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Wave 3 Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker
  • Return of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Jabba The Hutt & Salacious Crumb
  • Gaming Greats Star Wars Battlefront II Darth Maul (Old Master)
  • Galaxy’s Edge Dok Ondar

There was a fair share of pipeline reveals both for the Vintage Collection & Black Series.

The Vintage Collection pipeline figures are The Grand Inquisitor, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Rebels), Pre Vizsla, Director Krennic, and Darth Revan. The Black Series pipeline figures are Pre Vizsla, Battle Damaged General Grievous, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Obi-Wan Epilogue), Battle Damaged Darth Vader (Obi-Wan Duel), Qui-Gon Jinn Force Spirit, and Commander Appo.

They also teased another holiday wave of figures which will be released later this year and the next Haslab Vintage Collection project which looks to be the Ghost ship from Rebels.

There was a fair share of reveals for the Vintage Collection and Black Series mostly focused around the Return of The Jedi’s 40th Anniversary and I am very happy with the Wave 3 figure, especially the brand new R2-D2 and the array of accessories that Darth Vader comes with copying the recently announced Vintage Collection counterpart. I’m so stoked that he has a photoreal Sebastian Shaw head underneath the helm and he comes with an interchangeable battle-damaged stump.

The new Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker figure looks awesome and the likeness to Mark Hamill looks great, I love the artcard he comes on which echoes the original Kenner figure from 40 years ago. Though I do feel an accessory is missing they could have included the handcuffs when he was captured on Endor and taken to The Emperor. There isn’t any change to the Imperial Royal Guard since its original release a number of years ago and I would love to get another one to flank my Emperor on his throne which would make an awesome display! I’ll definitely be getting all of Wave 3.

The new deluxe sets look great and are really inspired, especially that Force Spirit three-pack. Many fans (including myself) are really excited about the release of Jabba Hutt & Salacious Crumb as it’s been going for crazy prices on the secondary market for years. I’ll definitely be after that one. Now if only they re-released that Emperor’s Throne set so new collectors can get their hands on it as well as it’s an amazing piece.

I’m surprised that they didn’t show off Dok Ondar or the new Darth Maul during the live stream, they were revealed afterward and I really want to get that Rebels-inspired Darth Maul which I know will be a Gamestop exclusive in the States.

I am really excited with the pipeline reveals as there are a number of figures that some fans have been clamoring for, for a while especially Pre Vizsla who’s been on many wishlists. I am really happy to see the Obi-Wan series get some more figures with the epilogue Obi-Wan, battle-damaged Darth Vader, and Qui-Gon Force Spirit. Though with them being store exclusives in the States is very annoying.

Most of the figures will be going up for pre-order this Thursday along with many of the Indiana Jones Adventure Series figures as well. I am really excited about many of the Black Series reveals and I cannot wait to see what they have in store for the May 4th and SDCC later this summer.
